Maureen Mahoney was born and reared in Wyandotte County. She graduated from the University of Arkansas, received a Master’s Degree from the University of Notre Dame, and her law degree from the University of Kansas. Maureen worked as a hearing officer and prosecutor but worked most of her law practice in child welfare. She served as General Counsel for KVC Behavioral Health and later as a Guardian Ad Litem in Wyandotte County representing children in foster care.
Maureen is the current Chief of Staff to Mayor David Alvey in the Unified Government. She is also a board member for a number of institutions in the region including the KU Hospital Board, Donnelly College and the Greater Kansas City community Foundation. Maureen is married to Dan Crabtree, a United States District Court judge in the District of Kansas.
